Gucci reveals ‘The Alchemist’s Garden’ luxury scent collection

Opening a new story of magic and imagination, Gucci’s the new luxury scent collection is inspired by the science of alchemy influencing the old art of fragrance making for seven eaux de parfum, four perfumed oils, three acque profumate and a scented candle.

“The idea that some primary scents of perfumery, like the essences of the flowers, the green scent of some plants could be joined to atmospheres, linked to memories.” – Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

Introducing The Alchemist’s Garden collection, inspired by the science of alchemy influencing the old art of fragrance making for seven eaux de parfum, four perfumed oils, three acque profumate and a scented candle.
Every fragrance and formula of The Alchemist’s Garden was created by Alessandro Michele and master perfumer Alberto Morillas as an unicum, telling the story of a place, a moment, a season and a memory of a scent.
The singular scents in the eaux de parfum, acque profumate and perfumed oils can be layered in a multitude of combinations to construct a customizable, special sillage—the amount the perfume lingers in the air when it is worn.

The Eaux De Parfum
A pastiche of reference points guided the creation of seven eau de parfum which champion a hero ingredient for each scent: rose, oud, amber, violet, woods, iris and mimosa. The perfumes are contained in a decorative porcelain bottle, with whimsical illustrations and evocative names. ‘A Song for the Rose’ is an expression of absolute femininity and features notes of rose with musk and woods. ‘The Voice of the Snake’ is named for a snake’s movement in the forest with natural oud, leather, saffron and patchouli. ‘The Eyes of the Tiger’ conjures an imagined journey into the soul of the tiger with notes of tonka, vanilla and ciste resin. ‘The Virgin Violet’ embodies a white swan with notes of musk, violet and vanilla. ‘The Last Day of Summer’ captures the breeze of a forest on an early Autumn day with cedarwoods and cypress. ‘Tears of Iris’ is a sensual interpretation of the iris flower. ‘Winter’s Spring’ conveys the joy of the end of winter in the bright powdery mimosa flower mixed with pepper and musk.

The Acque Profumate
Revealing the House’s pink rose print, the Acque Profumate bottles are crafted from white lacquered glass, each celebrating a single note in modern compositions. ‘Fading Autumn’ has a fragrance of bois modern, ‘A Winter Melody’ features a note of cypress and ‘Moonlight Serenade’ lavender.

The Perfumed Oils
Sage green toned lacquered glass bottles for the perfumed oils reveal a touche Oreille. The glass pipette style applicator is a vintage way to apply the scents blended with previous raw materials: rose in ‘A Forgotten Rose’, oud in ‘Nocturnal Reverie’, violet in ‘The Violet Kiss’ and bois modern in ‘Ode on Melancholy’.

The Scented Candle
‘The Virgin Violet’ is a delicate composition of musk and iris petals, and violet extract emits a soft, powdery fragrance.
