ABERFELDY has partnered with Avolta to launch the limited edition ABERFELDY 26 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, exclusively at Heathrow Airport, before launching in other Avolta locations. ABERFELDY 26 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish is limited to 618 bottles.

The new 56.8% ABV whisky is part of the growing Exceptional Cask Series, a family of extraordinary single-cask bottlings, double-cask expressions and small-batch single malts.

ABERFELDY 26 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish was filled into a refill cask on June 26, 1997, before being transferred into an Oloroso sherry cask in 2013 for over a decade.

Oloroso sherry casks are highly prized in the Scotch whisky industry for their ability to enhance the flavor of maturing whisky during the ageing process. A single sherry butt can contain ten litres of sherry which both seeps into the whisky during maturation and changes the flavor compounds in the oak cask.

The profile of ABERFELDY 26 Year Old Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish bears the imprint of this long finishing process but does not mask the signature smooth, honeyed character of Aberfeldy. Dark cherries and stewed plums come to the fore on the palate, accompanied by rich, dried figs and dates. Creamy notes of vanilla, toasted oak, baking spices and a hint of espresso coffee also combine to create a complex, multi-layered whisky.

John Dewar & Sons founded the Aberfeldy Distillery in 1896, nestled in the upper reaches of Perthshire’s Tay Valley. The Highland distillery draws its water from the Pitilie Burn, a stream famous for its occasional traces of gold, inspiring the brand’s “Golden Dram” epithet.
