UAE residents can now access the premium retail and dining facilities at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport without a boarding pass.
Zayed International Airport has introduced a “Visitor’s Airport Pass,” allowing nationals and residents of the UAE the chance to access the terminal’s landside and airside facilities without the requirement of a boarding pass. The new initiative, which will run for a duration of eight weeks, is designed to allow visitors to experience the airport’s architectural design, retail boutiques, and dining options without the pressure of travel.
To gain entry, visitors must register in advance for a specific time slot to receive a digital pass containing a unique QR code. This pass must be presented at designated control points upon entry and exit. While inside, guests have access to various leisure and shopping outlets, though the sale of liquor and tobacco is restricted to passengers holding a valid boarding pass. Standard VAT remains applicable on all purchases.
The new programme is subject to specific security protocols. Visitors must comply with all airport regulations, and the use or carriage of personal electronic devices, such as laptops and tablets, is strictly prohibited during the visit. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Complimentary parking is available for pass holders, provided a minimum cumulative spend of AED 200 is met during the authorised access period. To claim this, visitors must collect a parking ticket voucher when exiting the airside area and present it to an attendant. The voucher covers a maximum stay of four hours, after which standard parking rates apply. Zayed International Airport has noted that parking payments at exits must be made via card, as cash is not accepted.
Slot modifications are permitted on the same day of the booking by contacting the airport’s designated line, though any changes are subject to the issuance of a new access pass and additional processing time. All visitors are required to return their physical access passes at designated drop-off areas upon exiting the premises.
