If you’re passing through Changi or any major Asian hub this summer, keep your eyes peeled at the Duty Free shops. Ferrero (yes, the masters of the golden wrapper) is about to drop some serious new snacks in the Asia Pacific travel market.
We’ve had a look at what they’re bringing to the table, and it’s a mix of nostalgic classics and some “I need to try that now” innovation. Here is the lowdown on what to look for on your next layover:
🇩🇰 The Iconic Blue Tin is Going Global
We all grew up with the Royal Dansk blue tin (usually filled with sewing supplies at Grandma’s house, let’s be honest). But now, Ferrero is officially pushing these buttery Danish icons into Asian travel retail in a big way.
The Vibe: High-quality, traditional butter cookies.
The Travel Perk: They are launching a 340g Travel Exclusive tin. It’s got a special design you won’t find at your local supermarket, making it a perfect “I forgot to buy a souvenir” gift that people actually want to eat.
🍪 The Kinder “Crunch” Factor
This is the one I’m most excited about. Ferrero is previewing Kinder Crunchy Cookies in Singapore before they hit the rest of the world in September.
What is it? A crunchy biscuit base topped with that signature Kinder milk and white chocolate cream.
Travel Size: It comes in a 136g pack designed specifically for travellers—basically, the perfect size to stash in your carry-on for a mid-flight snack.
🍫 Darker Rocher & Crispy Bars
If you’re a dark chocolate fan, look out for the new Ferrero Rocher 70% Dark Chocolate tablets. They’ve also revamped the packaging to be more sustainable (fully recyclable), which is always a win in my book.
Also, keep an eye out for Kinder Crispy, launching globally in September:
“Imagine layers of hazelnut and cocoa filling, a crispy wafer, and milk chocolate topped with biscuit crumbs. It’s basically a texture party in a wrapper.”
🏷️ Nutella “Next Destination”
Nutella is continuing its Next Destination series. These are jars with destination-themed labels (great for collectors) that link to digital experiences via your phone. It’s a fun way to kill time while waiting for your boarding group to be called.
The Verdict
It’s clear that Ferrero is betting big on the “Premium Biscuit” trend. Whether you want the nostalgia of Royal Dansk or the sugar-rush of a new Kinder cookie, the Duty Free aisles in Asia are about to get a lot more interesting.
Pro Tip: If you see those Kinder Crunchy Cookies, grab a pack—since the global rollout isn’t until September, you’ll be one of the first to try them!
