Islay Scotch whisky brand Bowmore has unveiled three limited edition bottle designs for global travel retail as part of its collaboration with Aston Martin.

Beam Suntory-owned Bowmore and the luxury car maker agreed to partner in November 2019 to create exclusive bottlings and experiences. The first whisky released as part of the collaboration was Black Bowmore DB5 1964 in 2020.

The companies have now unveiled their first range, featuring new designs created by Aston Martin for Bowmore’s existing 10-, 15- and 18-year-old whiskies in global travel retail (GTR).

The ‘Designed by Aston Martin’ collection offers consumers insight into the automotive world, paying homage to iconic cars from the brand’s heritage.

The design for Bowmore 10 Years Old takes inspiration from Aston Martin factory team car LM10, which debuted at the Le Mans race in 1932. The whisky offers spice from Spanish oak casks and Bowmore’s signature smoke flavours, while the LM10’s technical expertise is depicted in the design, featuring ‘cutting-edge’ technology that reduced weight and accelerated speed.

Meanwhile, Bowmore 15 Years Old uses the Aston Martin Atom concept car as the basis for its design. The whisky was matured in first-fill Bourbon casks and hogsheads, while the Atom offers a ‘disruptive and elegant’ concept.

Sports car Aston Martin DB Mark III was the core focus behind the design of Bowmore’s 18-year-old bottling due to shared values of attention to detail and complexity. The single malt was aged in oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks.

Every Aston Martin has its own character and that is something we pay a great deal of attention to in the design process. This has been a new challenge for us and it is one we have enjoyed immensely.”

The first range from the Designed by Aston Martin series will be available in duty free globally from August 2021, with activations in key airports including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Hainan, Istanbul and Taiwan.

The Bowmore 10 Years Old is available for RRP £45 (US$63), the Bowmore 15 Years Old is priced at RRP £62 (US$87) and the 18-year-old costs RRP of £93 (US$130).
