Maison Courvoisier is proud to unveil to select global travel retail locations its Lunar New Year collection in collaboration with Jiannan Huang, a world-renowned Chinese painter and artist.

Lunar New Year 2024 will celebrate the Year of the Dragon, an animal of profound importance in Chinese culture. As a tribute, Courvoisier has released a specially designed three-part bottle series for 2024 that consists of Courvoisier L’Essence, XO Royal and XO. Huang, who was born in the Year of the Dragon, has harnessed his team’s expertise in enamel and traditional Chinese artistry to create each unique bottle that showcases the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Courvoisier.

“This creative partnership with Maison Courvoisier has allowed me and my team to fuse enamel techniques and traditional Chinese art, providing not only a remarkable canvas for storytelling, but also enabling me to pay homage to the dragon’s symbolic power and elegance,” Huang commented. “Together, we’ve created something truly enchanting that immerses cognac aficionados in the rich customs and festivities of Lunar New Year.”

The first cognac in the collection, L’Essence de Courvoisier, bottled at 42%, showcases a special edition that draws inspiration from Huang’s original dragon painting displayed on both the bottle and box. The eaux-de-vie remains true to its source, unaltered from the original L’Essence blend, preserving its unique and exceptional rarity. L’Essence is an exquisite blend meticulously crafted by combining more than one hundred rare eaux-de-vie sourced from the most exclusive crus within the Cognac region, namely Grande Champagne and Borderies.

This limited-edition release is now available in travel retail in limited quantities across selected airports: Haikou Meilan International, Hainan; Shanghai Pudong; Hong Kong International; Macau International; Singapore Changi; Taipei Taoyuan; Seoul Incheon; Paris CDG; Hamad International, Doha; New York JFK; and Los Angeles International. It is also available in Hainan, in both the Haikou and Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex, and in Macau’s Zhuhai Duty Free Shopping Mall. In line with its premium positioning, the RRSP is US$3,850.

Special editions of Courvoisier XO Royal and Courvoisier XO complete the Courvoisier Year of the Dragon collection. While the XO Royal and XO blends remain unchanged, the new packaging will feature Huang’s deep red dragon design, matching the visual elements of the rest of the collection. Inspired by the blend that graced the Royal Courts of Europe in the 1800s and 1900s, XO Royal is a revolutionary combination of two crus rarely blended. It marries rare Fins Bois de Jarnac and Grande Champagne eaux-de-vie, matured for up to 30 years in Courvoisier’s signature Limousin and Tronçais casks. Very rich and full-bodied in taste, XO Royal has a deep, smooth, and complex flavor that resolves into a long and powerful aftertaste. The RRSP is US$289.

XO pays homage to the terroir of the Cognac region with carefully selected eaux-de-vie matured in proprietary barrels using complex ageing techniques. It is crafted from a combination of crus with a majority of Grande Champagnes, along with very old Borderies and a selection of Petites Champagnes. The RRSP is US$191 for 700ml. With an ABV of 40%, these limited-edition releases will be available in both domestic and global travel retail doors.
