Highland Park, the Orkney distillery founded in 1798, has unveiled Light of Orkney 11 Year Old – a new travel retail exclusive single malt whisky inspired by Orkney’s radiant summer light. A vibrant introduction to Highland Park, Light of Orkney is currently rolling out to travel retail locations globally, supported by in-store activity throughout the year.
Priced at US$55 / GBP£44, Light of Orkney is the youngest whisky in the Highland Park range and offers a compelling entry point for travel retail consumers. The whisky is distilled in Orkney and matured for 11 years in a combination of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, bourbon casks and select refill casks. Focusing on lively fruity notes, the flavour balances caramelised sweetness with bright citrus and delicate floral smoke from Highland Park’s Orkney heathered peat. Light of Orkney is a perfect introductory offering to discover Highland Park’s signature smoky, sweet profile.
The bottle and packaging stand out strongly on shelf with an exclusive design and storytelling inspired by Highland Park’s Orkney home. The packaging features a strata pattern mimicking a shimmering spectrum of summer light in Orkney and the colours it creates as it illuminates the island’s moors, hillsides and rocky coastal cliffs.
Edrington Regional Managing Director Western Europe & Global Travel Retail Kasper Andersen said: “Light of Orkney is a great place for travel retail consumers to start exploring Highland Park’s signature sweet-smoky flavour. The whisky has been introduced to anchor the travel retail range and will play a key role in strengthening Highland Park’s travel retail portfolio by supporting consumer trade-up as well as appealing to several different shopper missions. We’re confident that the accessible price point and flavour profile of the whisky will encourage trial and recruitment into Highland Park.”
Light of Orkney is available now in travel retail worldwide with an RSP of US$55 / GBP£44
