Lagardère Travel Retail has opened the doors to its first provisional Aelia Duty Free shops at Luxembourg airport on November 1 following its takeover of retail and duty-free activities.
Early morning passengers and visitors were the first to discover the new, modern points of sale, as well as the goods on offer from Aelia Duty Free: perfumes, cosmetics, fashion accessories, luggage and leather goods, gastronomy, sweets, tobacco, alcohol, etc as Aelia Duty Free opened three provisional shops – one in the departure hall and the two others in the boarding area – and inaugurated the establishment of Aelia Duty Free at the airport, in anticipation of the revamped “Next Generation” Duty Free concept, works on which have started and the opening of which is planned for January 2016.
By way of welcome gift, the lucky first customer was given a bottle of Champagne and Luxembourg Crémant wine and a box of Luxembourg chocolates by Aelia Duty Free operations manager for Luxembourg Yves Guerre, plus a voucher for one week free parking by lux-Airport commercial director Jerome Le Bris.
The retail and duty-free outlets will cover 849sq m of floor space in total. Lagardère Travel Retail is investing more than €2m ($2.21m) in the deployment of its offer at Luxembourg airport.
This will replace and enlarge one of the existing points of sale in the boarding area. “House of Delights,” a new outlet, which will focus on delicatessen and regional products, will complete the deployment in the spring of 2016. The “Next Generation” concept is based on 4 strategic pillars: The Art of the Gift, Facilitation, Care, Here and Nowhere Else, turning shopping in the terminal into a unique experience for the passenger.
