Piper-Heidsieck are delighted to announce the launch of the “Drop the Box” concept on the Global Travel Retail market, in several shops: three in Paris CdG, one in terminal 1 (LTA1) and two in terminal 2E (LEA1 and LSM4), one in Nice in terminal 1 (SNI1) and another in Geneva in terminal 1 (GVA3).

These strategic activations have been meticulously designed to showcase our prestigious champagne houses. During this period, we have chosen to showcase Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Brut and Essentiel by unveiling them without their usual packaging. These activations play an essential role in conveying Piper-Heidsieck’s messages and vision.

The spotlight on our B Corp certification represents a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to sustainable development. The dynamism of these messages is highlighted by our promoters during these activations.

Their role is to guide consumers through the House universe and values, a key moment for those wishing to understand the purpose of their purchase. Mastering the nuances of our brand, these promoters elevate the overall experience, ensuring that consumers not only taste our products, but also understand our key messages, like our Drop the Box concept. With a touch of magic, we make the box disappear – Abracadabra.

About the concept:

“DO WE REALLY NEED A BIG RECTANGULAR GIFTBOX? Our champagnes are the real gift.”

For every PIPER-HEIDSIECK bottle you buy that is part of the Drop the Box initiative, we donate €1 to our partner Team for the Planet, which funds innovative projects to combat climate change.

1 bottle = 1 « TEAM FOR THE PLANET » share

When we really think about it, do we really need those big rectangular boxes for our products? Most of the time, we throw them away immediately after opening them. No matter how pretty they were, in the end they were just empty boxes.

What we want to focus on, is our champagnes. They are the real gift, with their elegance, freshness and vivacity. So why not simply appreciate what’s inside the bottle?

Today, our bottles dare to be naked and do without unnecessary packaging. We have taken environmental issues into account by reinforcing sustainable practices in our vineyards and taking a close look at the impact of our production. More than ever, we are committed to doing our bit for the planet.

More about Drop the Box:

Rethinking old habits to promote commitment.

Giftboxes may be nice to look at, but their utility is short lived. Once the package is opened, it ends up joining another hundreds of millions of tonnes of discarded paper and plastic throughout the world. Piper-Heidsieck knows it can do better. Dropping the box is an important first step in the House’s longer-term goal of package reduction.

More specifically, we plan on reducing all packaging material, including transport boxes, by as much as 50% by 2030. Wholefoods, the progressive grocery store banner in the US; Nicolas, the leading chain of French wine stores; and the iconic Galeries Lafayette department store are the first to join the Drop the Box initiative – and that’s just the beginning!

TWO WINES. ONE AMBITION.

To truly make a rapid positive change, PIPER-HEIDSIECK took the decision to begin with its flagship champagnes, Cuvée Brut and Essentiel. Back to the basics with Cuvée Brut and Essentiel.

Cuvée Brut, with its fresh, elegant and harmonious profile, fully embodies the PIPER HEIDSIECK spirit as the emblematic champagne of the House. It is the most widely available on shelves around the world. More dedicated to selective retail, Essentiel boasts a precise, accomplished and balanced profile.

By shedding the box on these two champagnes, PIPER-HEIDSIECK demonstrates its serious commitment to influencing the market and addressing the problem of over-packaging.

WE’RE TEAMING UP FOR THE PLANET…

“PIPER-HEIDSIECK has a unique vision: remove the box to add a positive dimension. Every bottle in the Drop the Box project results in a €1 donation to Team for the Planet, a global initiative against greenhouse gas emissions. Team for the Planet funds over 100 projects worldwide, having already reduced over 9 million kg of CO2 by 2022. Among the projects supported, Carbon Impact extracts carbon from the atmosphere using olivine minerals, while Beyond the Sea reduces shipping emissions by using kitesurfing technology to propel ships in the wind.

Every purchase of a “Drop the Box” bottle contributes to a sustainable future. Join us in making a difference and building a more environmentally friendly world. Drop the Box, Make a Difference.”
