Global travel retail shoppers around the world can pick up the ultra-prestige limited edition for the perfect Jubilee souvenir.
Royal Salute, the master of exceptionally aged Scotch whisky, unveils an ultra-prestige limited edition collection to celebrate the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition. This release is a colourful tribute to the Queen and Royal Salute’s unique and regal heritage, which has a deep-rooted historical link to the British monarchy, with the first flagons of Royal Salute created in 1953 as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day.
For travel retail shoppers around the globe, 38 of the 147 bottles are available to passengers across London Heathrow Airport, Dubai International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Incheon International Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok, Ben Gurion Airport and Sydney Airport as a souvenir to mark the historic occasion.
Curated with special significance and symbolism, the Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition blends traditionalism and modernity, and is inspired by the vibrant and joyous style of Her Majesty. The Queen’s mastery of the hidden language of costume has been honed throughout her reign and her use of brooches to show thoughtfulness, empathy and commemoration is a potent reminder of the power of symbolism. To honour her seven decades on the throne, Royal Salute was inspired by seven iconic brooches from the Her Majesty’s personal collection, the designs of which have been engraved on seven different decanters and box designs, with a colour palette reflective of her famous wardrobe.
The expression is a bespoke and intricately layered blend, which is finished for over two years in Tawny Port casks – a wine served during a Coronation Banquet in 1953 – and includes some exceptionally high-aged whiskies from no fewer than seven silent stills, each now lost to time. While their reputation lives on, the rarity of the remaining whisky means this unique expression, with red apple notes of the Inverleven Distillery, the blackcurrant vibrancy of Lochside and rich toffee of Caperdonich, can never be repeated. The result is a perfectly balanced whisky with a distinctive flavour profile that has developed over decades and was perfected thanks to the intricate nurturing and expert craft of Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslop.
Echoing the skill and artistry captured within the inimitable blend, each of the individually numbered 147 collectable decanters has been crafted from hand-blown Dartington crystal, making it as unique to its owner as the whisky inside. The box which houses the precious decanter features seven embossed lines which represent the seven decades of Her Majesty’s reign.
Speaking of the Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition, Royal Salute Master Blender Sandy Hyslop said, “For this momentous occasion I wanted to create a blend that captured Royal Salute’s unique heritage, while honouring the Queen’s seven decades of reign. We have expertly achieved this by using incredibly rare whisky from no fewer than seven stills to represent her time on the throne. It is an honour to have had a role to play in this piece of history; a task that has allowed us to release a prestigious whisky that also acts as a precious collector’s item for whisky lovers to cherish.”
Liya Zhang, Vice President of Marketing, PR GTR commented: “The ultra-prestige limited edition is the perfect piece of Jubilee memorabilia for travel retail shoppers – whether as a collector’s item to invest in to mark the historical moment or a souvenir to be generously shared with friends and family. As global travel picks back up, duty free basket sizes and value are increasing, reflective of shoppers’ desire to pick up premium products as part of their travel experience. We’re so pleased to be able to bring this momentous news release to global travellers.”
In further tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Royal Salute has partnered with London-based jewellers Bentley + Skinner to create a unique brooch in honour of the Platinum Jubilee. The custom piece is made of 18ct yellow gold, platinum and set with 70 diamonds, and will accompany a single crystal decanter and wooden box depicting the bespoke design. This one-of-a-kind set including the brooch, designed bottle and box will be up for auction, alongside a separate lot of all seven crystal decanters via Christie’s on 8th June 2022.
The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition will be released in June 2022 and will be available for purchase at selected specialist retailers with an RRP $20,000 USD. For more information, visit royalsalute.com or follow @royalsalute on social media.
