Nearly two months after Coach released its campaign starring Selena Gomez, the all-American brand has finally unveiled its first collection between the pop star and creative director Stuart Vevers.
“I’m very excited for everyone to finally see the design Stuart and I worked on together,” said Selena of the collaboration. “I can’t wait to carry it – it’s totally versatile, perfect to wear day-to-night, and it goes with everything.”
The collaboration imbues the brand’s classic luxury leather bags with an injection of youth from the world’s most-followed Instagram star. Featuring a double-handled tote with gold hardware, a cross-body bag with a chain and a card holder for the smaller essentials, all the leather goods are available in three exclusive colours: Selena Black Cherry, Selena White and the eye-catching Selena Red.
For Vevers, it was about attributing the star’s easy-going playfulness to their classic leather goods. “It was really fun to create this collection with Selena and design pieces that are cool and feminine like her,” Vevers said in a press statement. “When we designed the Selena Grace, it was about exploring the qualities Selena wanted in a bag and creating something that felt personal to her.”
Fans will be particularly touched by the embroidered intimate messages hidden in the bags’ hangtags and limited-edition keyrings. Selena’s signature sits alongside a patch with empowering messages, inscribed in Gomez’s handwriting no less, including “To be you is to be strong,” and “Love yourself first,” a nod to the tattoo on her side, are inscribed in the singer’s handwriting.
