During the autumn of 2023, Finavia will open ten new shops at Helsinki Airport, most of which are Finnish. This includes the Finnish brands Ruohonjuuri, Viaminnet and Lumene.
“We are proud that so many Finnish brands are represented at the revamped Helsinki Airport. For us, it is important that Finnish work and know-how can shine on the international stage,” says Nora Immonen, Helsinki Airport’s Director of Commercial Services at Finavia.
A total of 10.3 million passengers travelled via Helsinki Airport in January–August 2023, 89% of whom travelled on international flights.
The Finnish brands now opening shops at the airport include the eco shop Ruohonjuuri, Moomin Shop, Kankurin Tupa souvenir and Christmas shops, the jewellery and design shop Viaminnet and the cosmetics shop Lumene. The shops will create a total of about 70 new jobs at Helsinki Airport.
The majority of the shops will open in the new experience area, which will be completed on the site of the airport’s former departures hall.
“Finnish architecture, design using wood and unique brands will make the area an exciting meeting place at the heart of the gate area. The completion of the area is the culmination of Finavia’s historic development programme at Helsinki Airport, which will end in the autumn.”
Relove, which is both a café and the world’s first second-hand shop located at an airport, also opened in the spectacular service area in the summer. The café and shop has delighted both domestic and international passengers.
“We continuously develop our offering by following trends and the wishes of passengers. Helsinki Airport recently won an award for being the best airport in Europe in its size category, which is a great achievement and an indication that the changes we have made suit our customers’ preferences,” Nora Immonen says.
