Two new Apple shops have been officially opened at Dubai Duty Free in Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3, and are said to be the largest in travel retail in the world.
Two Apple shop programs have just opened their doors at Dubai Duty Free in Dubai International Airport’s T3 next to gate B15 & A12, covering a footprint of prime retail space of 86 & 70 m2 respectively.
The official opening in Concourse B was attended by senior executives from both Dubai Duty Free and Apple with the ceremonial ribbon cutting carried out by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Duty Free and David Chisholm, Apple Director of Sales for Apple Middle East & Africa.
Commenting on the opening, Colm McLoughlin said “With the Apple shop program in Concourse B being the largest in any travel retail in the world, this is a very exciting development for Dubai Duty Free and our customers. They will enjoy the design, layout and products, along with a first class customer experience and product knowledge.”
Dubai Duty Free and Apple have assigned dedicated staff members to the Apple Shop Programs at Dubai International Airport who have all undergone extensive product training by Apple to deliver an amazing customer experience.
Since the opening of the new Apple shop programs it has already resulted in an increase in sales of 8% for Apple products, a figure which is expected to rise further.
“Based on our current sales projections, we expect Apple sales to reach Dhs220 million (US$61 million) this year,” added McLoughlin.
The new Apple shop programs in Terminal 3 offer the full Apple ecosystem including the iPhone, the iPad, the Apple watch, the MacBook range, Apple TV and Apple accessories.
Apple opened its first store in the Middle East in October at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates followed shortly after by one at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall.
