Burberry’s latest collection of bags are on the runway – here’s a peak at what you will be craving come next Spring…
Last September, former Givenchy powerhouse designer Riccardo Tisci made his runway debut at Burberry. Immediately it was apparent that big changes were afoot at the iconic British brand. As Burberry aimed to modernise and reach a larger consumer base, Tisci looked to his work at Givenchy and implemented elements that worked into his designs for Burberry.
To start, Tisci designed and debuted a brand new logo, which pays homage to Burberry’s founder Thomas Burberry. In addition to introducing a new logo hardware, Tisci dove deep into the logo trend, plastering the new ‘TB’ monogram on everything from belt bags to tracksuits. Though some fans questioned if this move towards a younger, more street-esque Burberry was the right move, the numbers don’t lie. After Tisci’s appointment as Creative Director, Burberry jumped 3 spots into the top 10 luxury players in the Lyst Index, which measures the popularity of brands based on sales and other data, reports PurseBlog.
For Spring 2020, Burberry focused largely on its newest shoulder bag, the Lola, showcasing new iterations of the bag which debuted in this current season’s collection. New versions included a metallic silver belt bag as well novelty versions featuring everything from the Burberry screen print to a summery gingham print, and even a zebra printed Lola Bag.
Other notable shapes included a sleek, skinny, structured bag with various versions of the Burberry logo and an interesting (and very minimalistic) hobo bag which taps into the classic Burberry aesthetic.
