THE SALVATORE FERRAGAMO STORY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Spanning decades, the Salvatore Ferragamo story is not only an enchanting one, but mirrors the lives of many Italians in the early 20th century.<\/p>\n

Beginning in a small town outside of southern Naples, Salvatore Ferragamo\u2019s tale is one of a teenager who crosses the Atlantic in search of the American dream. Taking with him a noble trade and unflinching dedication to quality craftsmanship, it moves from the streets of New York to the film sets of Hollywood, where his store the \u201cHollywood Boot Shop\u201d is built on a reputation of perfection and anatomical interest.<\/p>\n

With time, an influx of orders and attention, larger scale production is needed \u2013 a requirement that returns the designer to Italy, and moves his operations to Florence, a city traditionally rich with skilled artisans. Manual production is the manifesto, and the family business expands all while set against a timeline of challenging world events.<\/p>\n

Come to be known as the \u201cshoe maker to the stars\u201d, Ferragamo\u2019s clientele grows to include icons from the eternally chic Audrey Hepburn to the femininely sensual Sofia Lauren\u2013 travelers who would never depart Italy without a trip to the Via Tornabuoni flagship for their made-to-measure shoes.<\/p>\n

It is these film stars of old who continue to serve as an example of Ferragamo\u2019s style, and on which The Florence Edit takes reference.<\/p>\n
