Mo\u00ebt & Chandon has launched its Mo\u00ebt Ice Imp\u00e9rial Ros\u00e9 NV, which is believed to be the first ros\u00e9 Champagne produced with the intention of being served over ice.<\/p>\n

Described by the Champagne house as \u201cfresh and vibrant when served over ice and sure to be the drink of the summer season\u201d, this expression has been created as a partner to its Ice Imp\u00e9rial Blanc NV, which was launched in few years ago.<\/p>\n

Blended by Mo\u00ebt\u2019s Chef de Cave Beno\u00eet Gouez, Ice Imperial Ros\u00e9 NV comprises a blend of 45 to 55% Pinot Noir, of which 10% is red wine, 35 to 45% of Meunier, of which 10% is red wine, and 5 to 10% Chardonnay. Around 20 to 30% of this blend is made up of selected reserve wines.<\/p>\n

Explaining his approach with regard to assembling the blend, Gouez said he selected each wine \u201cspecifically for what they bring to the party\u201d.<\/p>\n

Gouez described its Pinot Noir as \u201cangular and vinous\u201d, which he chose for both the \u201cintensity of the fruit and structural integration of the dosage\u201d. Meunier brings \u201crichness and middle notes of harmony and suppleness\u201d, while with the addition of 5 to 10% of Chardonnay Gouez said he was looking for \u201ca polished acidity and refreshing finish\u201d. The use of selected reserve wines seeks to \u201cround out the assemblage by enhancing its intensity, richness and consistency\u201d, said Gouez.<\/p>\n

Its dosage is 38g\/l, which Gouez said not only gives the wine its structure and personality but also \u201chelps create and maintain the Champagne\u2019s perfect balance when it meets the ice cubes\u201d.<\/p>\n
