Tory Burch\u2019s first fragrance is a modern, colourful interpretation of the collection she\u00a0has created.\u00a0Classic and unexpected, the fragrance captures the casual ease and\u00a0polished optimism that define Tory\u2019s aesthetic.<\/p>\n
\u201cFragrance is part of my personal history \u2014 my parents each had their ffavourite scents that are so tied to my memories. When we decided to create a fragrance, we\u00a0spent a lot of time thinking about what it should be \u2014 a balance of femininity and\u00a0tomboy, citrus and floral, grounded and graceful,\u201d says Tory.<\/p>\n
When creating Tory Burch Eau de Parfum, Tory felt it needed to have something\u00a0grounded to anchor it, like her father Buddy Robinson\u2019s signature vetiver. Vetiver\u00a0has a dynamic, earthy quality to it \u2014 unfussy and unexpected.\u00a0For brightness and optimism, there are citrus and fruit notes like crisp grapefruit\u00a0and mandarin, sweet bergamot, succulent neroli and tangy cassis.<\/p>\n
For a more classically feminine component, florals such as saturated pink peony,\u00a0lush tuberose, luxurious jasmine sambac and sweet alyssum are included.
\nWoodsy, warm cedar and sensual sandalwood give it real depth and complexity.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s similar to the clothes and accessories we design \u2014 sophisticated but down-to earth,\u00a0combining disparate ideas you don\u2019t usually see together. The fragrance is\u00a0the same way. There\u2019s a brightness to the scent when you first smell it, and then you\u00a0realize that it\u2019s more complex,\u201d says Tory.<\/p>\n
The elegant packaging is a nod to her mother Reva Robinson\u2019s bedroom vanity and\u00a0the classic perfume bottles and atomizers that graced it. The super-chic glass bottle\u00a0features many of Tory\u2019s favorite design elements: clean, beveled edges and a\u00a0signature fretwork top. Fretwork is a recurring design element in Tory\u2019s life, from a\u00a0pair of Chinese Chippendale chairs in her childhood home to the brass details at the\u00a0Tory Burch Madison Avenue flagship.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always been inspired by my parents,\u201d she says. \u201cFretwork was very much a\u00a0part of their design sensibility. It was a part of their vernacular, and now it\u2019s become\u00a0a signature of the brand, and the perfect accent for the fragrance.\u201d<\/p>\n
The outer packaging is in the brand\u2019s signature colour, a vibrant orange, while the\u00a0fragrance is a pale pink.<\/p>\n
Tory Burch Eau de Parfum, will be available in 50ml and 100ml from June 2014\u00a0at World Duty Free<\/a> in London Heathrow Airport, Valiram Duty Free<\/a> in Kuala\u00a0Lumpa International Airport and onboard British Airways<\/a> flights – with further locations to be announced soon.<\/p>\n
