Award-winning Venezuelan rum builds its position as a premium global brand with travellers making its debut in six major airport duty-free stores, and has plans to expand to twenty-five airports by the end of the year.

Diplomático Rum has proudly launched into the duty-free channel, considered the “6th Continent” for market and product distribution. In June 2016, the brand rolled its flagship rum Reserva Exclusiva into six major airports including Paris, Prague, Rome, Miami and Panama City.

In the last decade, Diplomático has grown internationally and is present today in over 50 countries around the globe. As one of the best in the premium-and-above rum category, Duty Free distribution is a natural next step for the brand’s growth. By the end of 2016, Diplomático Rhum plans to be selling in over 25 airports.

In April this year, Diplomático Rum displayed its award-winning portfolio at the Duty Free show of the Americas in Orlando. Participants showed great interest in the brand’s portfolio. Mario Navarro, Business Development Manager says, “We’re excited to expand Diplomático in the duty-free channel. As a global premium rum brand, the entire portfolio speaks to the cosmopolitan and adventurous traveller, especially those who would frequent international shops.”

The launch of Diplomático Rum in Parisian airports has been very successful. This is in part due to the fact that the brand is very well established in the French market, which is known for being highly competitive in the premium Rum segment, and is Diplomático’s number one export market. In fact, the brands says that on the first day of duty-free sales in Paris, the shops sold out of Diplomático.
