{"id":22846,"date":"2017-04-11T15:27:09","date_gmt":"2017-04-11T15:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dutyfreehunter.com\/blog\/?p=22846"},"modified":"2017-04-11T15:27:09","modified_gmt":"2017-04-11T15:27:09","slug":"louis-vuitton-reveals-masters-collaboration-jeff-koons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dutyfreehunter.com\/blog\/louis-vuitton-reveals-masters-collaboration-jeff-koons\/","title":{"rendered":"Louis Vuitton reveals Masters collaboration with Jeff Koons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Louis Vuitton\u00a0has unveiled its latest venture into the art world &#8211; a new line of bags and accessories that they have created with Jeff Koons, marking the first stage of its collaboration with the artist.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Masters collection features imagery from Koons&#8217;s Gazing Ball series of paintings &#8211; large-scale hand-painted reproductions of masterpieces &#8211; on a range of the fashion house&#8217;s most popular products. Recreations of the most famous works by some of the Old Masters &#8211; Da Vinci, Titian, Rubens, Fragonard and Van Gogh &#8211; have been transposed onto the canvas of bags such as as the Speedy, the Keepall and the Neverfull with the names of the artists emblazoned across them.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Louis Vuitton - Masters, a collaboration with Jeff Koons\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r0b7uHrSzoM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Vogue\u00a0about the collaboration, Koons &#8211; one of the most recognised figures in the contemporary art world and whose Balloon Dog (Orange) became the most expensive piece by a living artist when it sold for $58.4 million at Christie\u2019s in New York in 2013 &#8211; said: &#8220;What\u2019s wonderful about working with Louis Vuitton is that there really aren\u2019t parameters. When they come and speak to you about a project, everybody already has an understanding of what the possibilities are to create something special. We both had the same objective: we wanted to make something that really uses material, texture and colour to communicate and create something desirable. So there was tremendous freedom.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The artist has reconfigured the brand&#8217;s monogram to bear his initials, the first time in the fashion house&#8217;s history that it has allowed its famous logo to be reshaped. Each bag also features a tag of the inflatable rabbit, which is a recognisable feature in Koons&#8217;s work and, inside, a biography and portrait of the Master whose work has been recreated.<\/p>\n<p>The Masters collection lands on April 28.
