{"id":23293,"date":"2017-04-26T15:19:31","date_gmt":"2017-04-26T15:19:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dutyfreehunter.com\/blog\/?p=23293"},"modified":"2019-01-23T10:27:12","modified_gmt":"2019-01-23T10:27:12","slug":"diageo-reveals-2017-special-release-whisky-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dutyfreehunter.com\/blog\/diageo-reveals-2017-special-release-whisky-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"Diageo reveals 2017 Special Release whisky collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Diageo has revealed nine of the 10 whiskies to be launched as part of its 2017 Special Releases six months early, a series it calls \u2018the worst kept secret in malts\u2019.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Diageo Special Releases, the annual collection of limited edition whiskies \u2013 a series that began in 2001 and has featured whiskies from lost distilleries such as Port Ellen, Brora and Caledonian \u2013 has whisky enthusiasts clamouring to discover which bottlings will be released each year, reports Scotchwhisky.com.<\/p>\n<p>The anticipation for their release is so great that Diageo has struggled in recent years to keep details about the bottlings a surprise (see last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutyfreehunter.com\/blog\/diageo-unveils-10-special-release-whiskies\/\">Special Releases<\/a>). No images of the 2017 bottles yet so please check back for updates.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Nick Morgan, head of whisky outreach at Diageo, said today in a statement: \u2018One of our most cherished moments in the whisky calendar is the annual announcement of the Diageo Special Releases collection \u2013 a group of limited edition and natural cask strength whiskies that are highly anticipated around the world and revered for their quality and collectability.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So highly awaited are the releases, you may have noticed that we struggle to keep them under lock and key.
