It is located 57.5\u00a0km (35.7\u00a0mi) east of Tokyo Station<\/a> and 7\u00a0km (4.3\u00a0mi) east-southeast of Narita Station<\/a>\u00a0in the city of Narita<\/a>in Chiba<\/a> and the adjacent town of Shibayama<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Narita handles the majority of international passenger traffic to and from Tokyo and Japan, and is also a major connecting point for air traffic between Asia<\/a> and the Americas<\/a>. The airport handled 35,379,408 passengers in 2013.\u00a0It is the second-busiest passenger airport in Japan,\u00a0busiest air freight hub in Japan,\u00a0and tenth-busiest air freight hub<\/a> in the world.\u00a0It serves as the main international hub of Japan’s flag carrier<\/a> Japan Airlines<\/a>, All Nippon Airways<\/a>, Nippon Cargo Airlines<\/a>, and low-cost carriers Jetstar Japan<\/a> and Vanilla Air<\/a>. It also serves as an Asian hub for Delta Air Lines<\/a>\u00a0and United Airlines<\/a>. Under Japanese law, it is classified as a first class airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
