Chanel has launched its new Code Coco watch, a sleek stainless steel and diamond piece that comes in three models with varying quantities of diamonds. With its thin and discrete rectangular watch face, the piece doubles as a loose bracelet, the kind that slips to the wrist when the arm drops down.<\/p>\n

Certain design elements are lifted from the house\u2019s signature quilted 2.55 Bag. Most obvious is the bag\u2019s rotating, oblong lock, which looks like it was plucked from the bag and snapped onto the face of the high-precision quartz movement watch. The bracelet\u2019s grid serves as another reference to the handbag, in a subtle nod to Chanel\u2019s trademark quilting.<\/p>\n

The new watch is named Code Coco, because the whole timepiece is meant to be intriguing, with its parts working together to cleverly reveal different design elements \u2013 much like a code.<\/p>\n

Code Coco looks and feels novel, especially the way the strap is designed to work. The case mimics the look and feel of a clasp from Chanel\u2019s iconic 2.55 bag, which was first created in 1955. When you put the watch on, you are meant to wrap the bracelet around your wrist, then slide it onto the case before closing it with a satisfactory \u201cclick\u201d \u2013 much like how a 2.55 bag would be securely closed shut.<\/p>\n

The timepiece is in steel with two bezel options: steel or studded with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds. Both dials are black-lacquered and set with one princess-cut diamond located on the upper half. The case size is 38.1mm by 21.5mm, a size that fits most women\u2019s wrists comfortably. It is powered by a quartz movement and water resistant to 30m.<\/p>\n
