For Autumn 2017, Lacoste has given carte\u00a0blanche to the duo of graphic artists\u00a0Mathias Augustyniak and Michael Amzalag,\u00a0alias M\/M Paris.<\/p>\n


\nFelipe Oliveira Baptista, Lacoste\u2019s artistic director, had been dreaming of combining\u00a0the iconic crocodile with the talent and the\u00a0very special world of these two artists.\u00a0\u201cI admire their work, which I find very personal\u00a0and rich. I like the alchemy which takes place\u00a0between their freedom of tone and the\u00a0strictness of their creations,\u201d he explains.<\/p>\n

For three decades, M\/M paris has embodied\u00a0the best there is in the field of signs and visual\u00a0identity. Among the most innovative designers\u00a0of their generation, the pair have marked the era\u00a0with their artistic creations based on thinking
\nwhich is always profound and often political.<\/p>\n

What makes them original is that they never work in only one medium. Mathias and Michael\u00a0thus switch according to their affinities from\u00a0fashion to music, from contemporary art\u00a0to theatre and from decorating to creating\u00a0a perfume.<\/p>\n

For a long time they put their name to promoting Yohji Yamamoto and, with Nicolas Ghesqui\u00e8re,\u00a0they created the renaissance vocabulary\u00a0of Balenciaga. They work among other things\u00a0today with Jonathan Anderson for Loewe and its\u00a0JW Anderson brand.<\/p>\n

They are the official graphic artists of Bj\u00f6rk,\u00a0Benjamin Biolay, Etienne Daho and\u00a0Jean-Louis Murat. They also work with the\u00a0artists Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster,\u00a0Pierre Huyghe and Philippe Parreno, institutions\u00a0such as the Lorient theatre, the Dijon\u00a0Consortium and Fiac, whose posters they have\u00a0been designing since 2005.<\/p>\n

An eclectic clientele with whom they build up\u00a0a long-term relationship in which a genuine\u00a0complicity is established, each partner assisting\u00a0the other in its development. We thus took\u00a0the opportunity to ask the two how they came\u00a0to envisage this invitation.<\/p>\n

THE COLLECTION<\/strong>
\nThe alphabet is undoubtedly the favourite\u00a0area of expression of Mathias Augustyniak\u00a0and Michael Amzalag, who have had fun\u00a0redefining the outline of the iconic crocodile\u00a0from \u201cA to Z\u201d. Graphically redesigned according\u00a0to the geometry of the letters composing\u00a0the brand\u2019s name, the L stylises the crocodile\u2019s\u00a0tail while the E represents its open mouth.\u00a0The products in a capsule collection\u00a0and a limited edition thus take on a new look\u00a0for a time while these artists work with us.<\/p>\n

Produced in the classic LACOSTE colours of white, navy, red, sky blue or flamingo pink,\u00a0each garment is embroidered with the word\u00a0\u201cLACOSTE\u201d in green and red two-tone lettering.\u00a0This embroidery replaces the crocodile on\u00a0a short-sleeved polo and moves to the middle\u00a0on a sweater, a headband or wristbands, while\u00a0a unisex T-shirt carries the whole of the\u00a0alphabet in which only the letters spelling out\u00a0LACOSTE are coloured. These graphics are\u00a0repeated on one side of the reversible Anna bag,\u00a0the other side showing a print with a repetition\u00a0of the successful pair\u2019s logo, M\/M (Paris).<\/p>\n

LIMITED EDITION<\/strong>
\nFor the limited edition, the famous French\u00a0graphic studio has dreamt up a \u201cdays of the\u00a0week\u201d version of the unisex polo: 7 letters for\u00a0LACOSTE and one outsize letter for each of the 7\u00a0polos always emblazoned with the embroidered
\nword LACOSTE in place of the crocodile. A heather grey or plain black hoodie and\u00a0a graphic poncho combining the alphabet print\u00a0and the M\/M (Paris) print complete this limited\u00a0edition. The added accessories are a pair\u00a0of white L.12.12 sneakers decorated with\u00a0the LACOSTE patch and fitted with a red sole,\u00a0and a crocodile-shaped sports bag.<\/p>\n

This collection has been available since the 24th of October 2017 on lacoste.com<\/a>\u00a0and debuts from the 15th of November 2017 in all\u00a0LACOSTE stores worldwide.<\/strong><\/p>\n
