The new precinct reflects Melbourne\u2019s position as Australia\u2019s food and fashion capital. Travellers can treat themselves before boarding with 11 new luxury retailers now open.
\nMelbourne\u2019s reputation as a foodie and shopping mecca will be the last impression left with millions of international travellers, as Melbourne Airport unveiled its newest renovation. The luxury retail and dining precinct within its International Terminal (T2), now includes some of the world\u2019s most desirable fashion and accessories brands, along with exciting bars and restaurants and a brand new duty-free shopping experience.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s busiest 24\/7 airport has seen its international passenger numbers grow by 46 per cent over the past five years \u2013 and is expected to welcome more than 60 million visitors annually by 2033.<\/p>\n

The new retail and dining precinct in T2 is part of the airport\u2019s commitment to bring the city\u2019s world-renowned shopping, food and beverage experiences to life at the airport.<\/p>\n

Chief of Retail at Melbourne Airport, Andrew Gardiner, said: \u201cThe vibrant redevelopment has been designed with the modern traveller in mind.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt captures the essence of Melbourne, from sipping on a cup of locally brewed coffee to indulging in the latest designs from international luxury fashion and accessories brands.\u201d<\/p>\n

John Mutton, General Manager Australia of British luxury fashion house, Burberry, said: \u201cMelbourne is synonymous with fashion and we\u2019re thrilled to be bringing Burberry\u2019s high quality, luxury fashion right to the airport. Our new store will be home to the latest Burberry apparel, leather goods and accessories, providing local and international travellers with the opportunity to purchase something special as they arrive or depart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joining Burberry in T2 are retailers including jeweller Tiffany & Co., luxury fashion and accessories brands Salvatore Ferragamo, Max Mara, Bally, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, HUGO BOSS and Furla, leading luxury luggage retailer, Tumi, and specialty watch store, Watches of Switzerland.<\/p>\n

On the dining front, travellers can enjoy a truly Melbourne pre-flight culinary experience at one of six hospitality venues, including a revamped Caf\u00e9 Vue by Shannon Bennett, Bar Pulpo by Movida by Frank Camorra and much-loved restaurant Two Johns. For the first time newly announced BaXa (opening late December 2017), Urban Provodore and Brunetti from the Angele Brothers will also be available airside within T2.<\/p>\n

Yuri Angele, co-owner of Brunetti, said: \u201cAt Brunetti we share Melburnians\u2019 love of irresistible, high-quality coffee and we\u2019re excited to continue bringing this quintessential flavour of Melbourne to the airport, now in T2. With millions of international guests passing through the airport each year, we can\u2019t wait to share our coffee with the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Travellers can also take advantage of the airport\u2019s new duty-free shopping experience, which is the second of Dufry\u2019s next generation concept stores to open worldwide.<\/p>\n

Melbourne Airport Chief Executive Officer, Lyell Strambi, said: \u201cWe\u2019re really proud of what Andrew and his team have achieved in T2. Airports are either the first or last touch point of a traveller\u2019s journey through our great city, and the refurbished retail and dining precinct delivers an experience that strengthens our customers\u2019 connection to Melbourne, leaving them with a positive and lasting impression of a city they\u2019ll want to return to.\u201d<\/p>\n
