Suntory has created a new Japanese whisky collection \u2013 called The Essence of Suntory Whisky \u2013 which includes experimental bottlings from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries.<\/p>\n

Initially the new collection will be available only in Japan. Part of the new Suntory whisky range, \u201cThe Essence of Suntory\u201d will be released on February 27th, 2018. The new range features fresh, new bottle designs and gorgeous labels showcasing modern Japanese art. Three expressions have been announced so far, one by Yamazaki, one by the Hakushu distillery, and one from Suntory\u2019s grain distillery, Chita.<\/p>\n

Yamazaki Peated Malt<\/strong> is bottled at 49% abv and has been aged for 12 years. It is said to have an \u201cinfluence of gentle smoke\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hakushu Rye Type<\/strong> (57% abv), aged for four years, is a rye-based grain whisky from Hakushu, which usually distils single malt for Suntory. According to Dekant\u0101, the use of rye \u201cbrings a rich, deep spice to pair with the green, fruity Hakushu character\u201d.<\/p>\n

Chita Wine Cask Finish<\/strong> (49% abv) is a \u201crare\u201d 16-year-old grain whisky that has spent four years finishing in an unspecified wine cask, providing \u201cplum-influenced sweet and sour notes\u201d.<\/p>\n
