Dedicated to the year of the dog, the 63 items focus on an illustration by the brand\u2019s creative director Alessandro Michele of his two Boston Terriers.<\/p>\n

Gucci\u00a0is approaching Chinese New Year celebrations – which begin on February 16 this year – by releasing a\u00a0capsule collection\u00a0dedicated to the year of the dog.<\/p>\n

Made of 63 items, the lineup focuses on an illustration of the brand\u2019s creative director\u00a0Alessandro Michele\u2018s two Boston Terriers, named Bosco and Orso.\u00a0The illustrations are a replica of the ones featured on a pillow gifted to Michele by artist Helen Downie, better known as\u00a0Unskilled Worker. The partnership between the designer and the British artist dates back to 2015, when Michele discovered Downie\u2019s work on Instagram and invited her to take part in an art exhibition in Shanghai\u2019s Minsheng Art Museum. The relationship was then cemented\u00a0in October, when\u00a0Gucci\u00a0teamed with the artist on a\u00a0capsule collection\u00a0featuring her illustrations (see previous\u00a0post<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Reprising Unskilled Worker\u2019s dog design, the new collection includes women\u2019s and men\u2019s ready-to-wear items, shoes, handbags, luggage, small leather goods and accessories.<\/span><\/div>\n

Standout pieces are women\u2019s brightly colored knitted sweaters and denim jackets and men\u2019s polo shirts, hoodies and bomber jackets, all embellished with the dog motifs. These also dominate backpacks and tote bags crafted in Gucci\u2019s signature logo-ed Supreme fabric, in addition to colorful leather clutch bags, wallets, scarves, trainers and jewelry.<\/span><\/div>\n

Currently available in all markets, both in Gucci stores and on the brand\u2019s e-commerce \u2014 including the\u00a0recently launched online store in China\u00a0\u2014 the capsule collection will be further promoted across the house\u2019s digital channels and with dedicated marketing initiatives.<\/p>\n

The fashion house tapped photographer\u00a0Petra Collins\u00a0and models Ellia Sophia Coggins, Unia Pakhomova, Gao Jie, Dylan Xue, Tex Santos-Shaw, Xie Chenglin, Eun Sang and Ruoyang He to wear the collection. Rich interiors, flowery gardens and different dog breeds complement the products in the editorial.<\/p>\n

In store, windows will be redesigned with tartan walls, floor and matching tartan upholstered mini-bench seats to display the items, along with a big image of each dog on the rear wall. A special packaging has also been developed.<\/p>\n

Digital promotion will be boosted through a special interactive content reserved to iPhone X users and available on the Gucci App. The feature enables users to animate the Orso and Bosco dogs through a special face recognition technology and to record a video that can be shared from the app.<\/p>\n
