Drinks giant Diageo has unearthed the Malacca version of its Tanqueray gin brand, relaunching this spiced edition for the global duty-free and travel retail marketplace.<\/p>\n

Originally launched 20 years ago Tanqueray Malacca was inspired by a recipe from founder Charles Tanqueray and influenced by the East Indies.<\/p>\n
Diageo said it was bringing back the expression due to ongoing demand from bartenders and the public.<\/p>\n
Bottled at 41.3% abv, Tanqueray Malacca will be available as a permanent addition to the gin brand\u2019s portfolio in Canada, Australia and Global Travel Retail, and will form part of a limited-edition release in the US.<\/p>\n
Joanna Segesser, Tanqueray global brand marketing manager, said: \u201cTanqueray Malacca has been a cult favourite of bartenders for many years.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a gin like no other, a uniquely spicy gin with less juniper emphasis than the classic style.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want bartenders around the world to experiment and innovate with this unique and exotic gin that has nearly 200 years of Tanqueray heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tanqueray Malacca is said to have aromas of lime, lavender and jasmine, and \u201ca distinctive depth of spice from peppercorn, cloves and rose\u201d.<\/p>\n
Since production of the spirit ceased, vintage bottles of Malacca have commanded high prices at auction \u2013 a fact which also encouraged the brand owner to relaunch the spirit.<\/p>\n
