The Coco Neige and Coco Beach lines designed by Karl Lagerfeld will be timed to hit select stores with Chanel\u2019s resort and pre-fall lines.<\/p>\n
Karl Lagerfeld is working on two new mini collections for Chanel: A skiwear line named Coco Neige and swimwear titled Coco Beach. According to WWD, the fashion designer came up with the idea when he was on holiday in Saint-Tropez, where he noticed that the Chanel store did not have a strong assortment of beachwear on offer.<\/p>\n
Bruno Pavlovsky , president of fashion at Chanel, says that the collections are made for the immediate needs of the customer. “We have about 30 stores on the coast, and during the months of June and July, when cities like Cannes, Nice, Capri, Barcelona and [cities in] Florida are incredibly busy, there are winter collections in the store,” he explained to WWD .<\/p>\n
The Coco Beach<\/strong> collection consists of bathing suits, bikinis, bandanas, terry cover-ups, denim pieces, bags and espadrilles. The swimwear is black with the familiar double C-logo, or in hand-painted raster motif on a pink or red background. The beach collection will roll out from June in 26 selected stores, while the ski collection Coco Neige<\/strong> will debut from July and August, to tie in with with the Autumn\/Winter collections.<\/p>\n The ski collection will also be available in ski resorts such as Courchevel, where Chanel has a temporary store during the winter months. Among other items there will be down jackets, nylon ski pants, black sweaters and shearling boots and bags in Coco Neige line.<\/p>\n On some pieces a special Coco Neige logo will be shown, so the logomania is not over yet. Pavlovsky emphasizes that Karl Lagerfeld uses as much energy in these mini-collections as in the normal collections. “Karl has worked on every piece, he has seen everything. He is very involved and always wants it to work. That is the most important. This is not a second-rate collection.
