Burberry\u2019s new creative director Riccardo Tisci has announced the brand\u2019s first collaboration since he took over as the design head of the house earlier this year. A limited edition collection with British fashion icon Dame Vivienne Westwood will be released in December.<\/p>\n

Tisci, the former Givenchy creative director who joined Burberry this spring to replace Christopher Bailey, revealed the news himself via his Instagram account today.<\/p>\n
In two images, a tuxedo-wearing Tisci is shown with Dame Vivienne, sporting a Burberry trench, along with her husband and creative collaborator Andreas Kronthaler.<\/p>\n
Italian designer Tisci, who studied at London\u2019s Central Saint Martins, said Dame Vivienne, who was a pioneer of the British punk movement in the 70s and went on to build a global brand, had inspired him to become a designer.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am SO honoured to announce a new Burbs collaboration with the original British PUNK,\u201d he said. \u201cVivienne is the most unique champion of British style and has been a huge inspiration for so many of us. I am incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.\u201d<\/p>\n
The announcement, which brings together an historic British house and one of fashion\u2019s favourite rebels, has provoked much excitement among fans of the two brands.<\/p>\n
Tisci will be presenting his first collection for Burberry at London Fashion Week in February. In May, again via his Instagram account, he released a first glimpse of what people can expect from his tenure with a selection of images for a pre-SS19 capsule collection, which featured his take on the trench and ponchos in house check.<\/p>\n
