The 21-year-old from Walsall in the UK announced her latest accolade to her 2 million Instagram followers, writing \u201cLittle 14 year old J would not have even thought about this while stealing my mom\u2019s mascaras. Such an honour to be part of such an incredible house.\u201d<\/p>\n
In her new role as beauty ambassador Smith will be working closely with Peter Philips, creative and image director for Dior Makeup, on upcoming editorial and digital projects. Essentially, we\u2019ll be seeing a lot more of her glowiness in Dior\u2019s promotional campaigns.<\/p>\n
This is the latest in a slew of triumphs for the soul singer, who won the Brit award last year for British female Solo Artist and was nominated for a Grammy award for her debut album Lost and Found.<\/p>\n
Smith was gained recognition after posting her first song Blue Lights onto Soundcloud, while working at Starbucks aged 19. Within a week the song had been played over 100,000 times and was shared by Drake, Stormzy and Skrillex.<\/p>\n
Soon after Drake took Smith under his wing, featuring her vocals on two of the tracks from his More Life mix tape and taking her on his Boy Meets World tour in February and March 2017.<\/p>\n
Since then Smith\u2019s velvety falsetto and thoughtful, emotionally charged lyrics have gained extensive critical success and myriad collaborations including the 2018 single \u201cLet Me Down\u201d with Stormzy. She co-write and performed the song \u201cI Am\u201d for Kendrick Lamar\u2019s \u201cBlack Panther\u201d soundtrack.<\/p>\n
Dior said they chose Smith because they think she will \u201clend Dior her stylish beauty and modern freshness.\u201d She joins a roster of glittering Dior Makeup Ambassador alumni including Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Bella Hadid, and Charlize Theron.<\/p>\n
