Everyone seems to adore\u00a0Proenza Schouler right now – The New York-based fashion brand embodies all things youthful, modern, and downtown cool, with legions of loyal fans to prove it. When the label\u2019s designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez launched their first beauty collaboration, a limited-edition 15-piece collection with MAC in 2014, their legions of loyal fans scooped up the bold lipsticks and glossy nail polishes. And soon, we\u2019ll all be able to smell like the Proenza girl, too.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Or\u00e9al has announced a license agreement with Proenza Schouler to produce the first fragrance for the luxury brand. \u201cJack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez clearly belong to the very short list of today\u2019s most aspiring US designers whose creativity will bring the perfect complement to L\u2019Or\u00e9al Luxe\u2019s portfolio of iconic fragrance brands,\u201d said Nicolas Hieronimus, President L\u2019Or\u00e9al Selective Divisions, in a statement. \u201cWe are eager to welcome these remarkable designers to the L\u2019Or\u00e9al family.\u201d<\/p>\n

The brand joins Cacharel, Diesel, Viktor&Rolf, and Maison Martin Margiela as part of L\u2019Or\u00e9al Luxe\u2019s designer brands fragrances portfolio. \u201cProenza Schouler is one of the most inspiring brands in the fashion arena, redefining what it means to be a modern woman today,\u201d sais Nathalie Dur\u00e1n, International General Manager, L\u2019Or\u00e9al Designer Brands Fragrances, in a statement. \u201cThey are the voice of a generation. The brand\u2019s commitment to innovation, detail, beauty and craft mirror the very core values of L\u2019Or\u00e9al\u2019s Luxury Designer Brands Fragrances.\u201d<\/p>\n

Proenza Schouler has expanded rapidly worldwide. The first handbag collection was launched in 2008, followed by a license agreement to produce and distribute the brand\u2019s footwear collection in 2012. Today the brand boasts ten flagship stores and over 100 points of sale in the most prestigious locations across more than twenty different countries.<\/p>\n

Proenza Schouler was founded by McCollough and Hernandez in 2002 after the duo met while studying at the Parson\u2019s School of Design in New York City. The brand\u2019s first collection, which was McCollough and Hernandez\u2019s senior thesis, was bought by Barneys New York. In the years since, the brand has won five CFDA awards and opened two stores in New York City. \u201cWe are incredibly excited to embark on this new adventure with L\u2019Or\u00e9al,\u201d said McCollough and Hernandez in a statement. \u201cWorking on a fragrance has always been a dream of ours, and we could not have imagined that one day we would be given the chance to do so with the world leaders in the field. We look forward to translating our visual aesthetic into the subtle and highly emotional world of scent.\u201d<\/p>\n
