Singapore-based distiller Tanglin has launched two products at Lotte Duty Free in Changi Airport: a limited edition gin and a moonshine liqueur.<\/p>\n

Tanglin was founded in 2018 and is said to be the maker of Singapore\u2019s \u2018first\u2019 gin. The brand has announced the launch of two travel retail-exclusive expressions: Singapore Gin \u2013 Lotte Changi Edition, and Singapore Moonshine.<\/p>\n

The Singapore Gin \u2013 Lotte Changi Edition<\/strong> has been released to mark the return of travel following the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The bottle artwork celebrates the \u2018architectural wonders\u2019 and colourful history and culture of Singapore. It depicts the Merlion, a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, which is the official mascot of Singapore.<\/p>\n

It also shows the world-famous Marina Bay Sands hotel, and \u2018Yum Seng\u2019, the Cantonese phrase for \u2018cheers\u2019.<\/p>\n

The team at Tanglin are said to have challenged themselves to produce a contemporary citrus gin with complex flavours that are balanced and harmonised.<\/p>\n

It features nine botanicals, including mandarin orange, chilli seeds, kaffir lime and ginger, which has resulted in a sweet and citrusy gin that pairs well with spicy Asian fusion food.<\/p>\n

Moonshine liqueur<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tanglin Singapore Moonshine \u2013 Apple Spiced Gin Liqueur was created in the Tanglin Creations Lab.<\/p>\n

It is based on a Singaporean moonshine tradition known as Samsu from the 1930s, when it was secretly distilled in the jungle from dusk until dawn in a bid to escape detection.<\/p>\n

Almost a century later, Tanglin Gin decided to revisit the popular Singapore moonshine, keeping to the tradition of making Samsu in the jungle.<\/p>\n

It was made using an old moonshine recipe and created with Asian ingredients such as gula melaka, ginger and clove to make it \u2018uniquely Singaporean\u2019.<\/p>\n

It is described as tasting like \u2018apple pie with an Asian twist\u2019.<\/p>\n

The recipe makes use of the gin tails, the last part of the gin run not used in the brand\u2019s core gins, allowing for reduced waste in the brand\u2019s production process.<\/p>\n

It is bottled at 32% ABV.<\/p>\n

Both releases are exclusively available at Changi Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Tanglin distillery is located on Dempsey Hill in Singapore. It offers distillery tours, and boasts its own cocktail bar, which offers a menu of Asian-inspired cocktails and Singapore-inspired fusion foods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
