Tomatin has welcomed a new member to their core range of Highland single malt whiskies — Tomatin 12 Year Old Sherry Cask.

This new expression builds upon the classic Tomatin 12 Year Old, exploring the remarkable aromas and flavours that are uncovered when fully maturing Tomatin spirit in Sherry casks for a total of 12 years.

This new single malt whisky brings their award-winning core range portfolio to six with each distinctive expression matured in different cask types, bursting with unique character.

Sherry Cask Influence

Tomatin 12 Year Old Sherry Cask epitomises the exceptional craftsmanship, tradition and quality of Highland malt whisky, bringing together decadent, rich flavours imparted from the finest quality sherry casks.

Opening with sweet aromas of caramelised apple and sweet pears, complemented by a medley of citrus zest from sultana, orange peel and apricot with subtle undertones of aged leather on the surface.

Deeper on the palate, it leads with indulgent notes of velvety chocolate fudge, golden manuka honey and the crunch of dried fruit and nuts. It has a lingering warm finish, with a hint of sweet cinnamon spice.

This latest release debuts a striking new design, encased in a vivid scarlet exterior embossed with opulent gold foil accents, paying homage to the intricate flavours imparted by the wood during the cask maturation process.

Evolving traditions

“The global demand for well-matured sherried malts, particularly in markets like Asia, has inspired this latest addition to our core range. Tomatin has a unique ability to balance tradition with innovation, embracing our time-honoured techniques and contemporary practices to push the boundaries of flavour exploration. For over a century, Tomatin has featured sherry casks in our maturation process, and this new release stands as the next evolution of this tradition.

“Our 12 Year Old Sherry Cask captures the essence of our renowned 12 Year Old, enhancing its signature smoothness and focusing its aromatic profile to create a sherry cask whisky with a depth of flavour that is luxuriously indulgent.”
