In\u00a0a move that further brings together the worlds of luxury fashion and technology, Apple announced today that it has collaborated with Herm\u00e8s to create a collection of new Apple Watches.<\/p>\n

While many would anticipate that the heritage leather brand may have merely lent its expertise to creating a new series of straps, Apple Watch Herm\u00e8s is a truly collaborative line – each watch comes engraved with the Herm\u00e8s signature, the typeface can be customised to Herm\u00e8s’s famous orange and three exclusive dials reference classic Herm\u00e8s watch face designs. Of course, the straps play an integral role too; each of the three designs – the single tour, the double tour and the cuff – are handcrafted in Paris in the label’s Barenia leather.<\/p>\n

“Apple and Herm\u00e8s make very different products, but they reflect the deep appreciation of quality design,” said Apple’s chief design officer Jonathan Ive. “Both companies are motivated by a sincere pursuit of excellence and the\u00a0desire to create something that is not compromised. Apple Watch Herm\u00e8s is a true testament to that belief.”<\/p>\n

Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Herm\u00e8s’s executive vice president in charge of artistic direction, added, “At Herm\u00e8s, we strive to provide our clients with elegant, creative and functional objects for their everyday lives. What more contemporary and\u00a0relevant expression of this principle could there be than this collaboration with Apple. We are strongly united by the\u00a0same deeply held ideas and principles. The collection will be available to buy from October 5\u00a0at select Apple retail stores, select Herm\u00e8s stores, speciality stores and department stores beginning October 5.<\/p>\n

The Single Tour with the 38 mm stainless steel case comes in fauve Barenia leather, noir box leather and capucine Swift leather, while the Single Tour with 42 mm stainless steel case comes in fauve Barenia leather and noir box leather. The Double Tour pairs with the 38 mm stainless steel case and is available in fauve Barenia leather and bleu jean, capucine and etain Swift leather. The Cuff pairs with the 42 mm stainless steel case and is available in fauve Barenia leather only. Across the collection, each stainless steel case features an etching of the Herm\u00e8s signature and includes a customizable face with three exclusive dial designs inspired by Clipper, Cape Cod and Espace Herm\u00e8s watches.<\/p>\n
