Synonymous with travel retail\u2019s leading flavoured gin Whitley Neill and disruptive rum\/tequila brand Dead Man\u2019s Fingers, Halewood Artisanal Spirits will be using TFWA World Exhibition this year to highlight its extensive, multi-award-winning and unique whisk(e)y portfolio from across the UK and Ireland. All are now available to travel retail and can be seen on the Halewood yacht (Harbour Village M\/S Accama Delta).<\/p>\n

The only company in the world distilling whisky in Scotland, England and Wales, the collection includes Aber Falls Single Malt from the first distillery in North Wales for over 100 years; Bonnington Single Malt from Leith, Edinburgh; and Bankhall British Whisky. Irish Whiskies The Pogues and Samuel Gelston\u2019s are also within the company\u2019s portfolio.<\/p>\n

Launched earlier this year in UK travel retail with Avolta, Aber Falls Whisky is now available at selected airports including Heathrow, London Gatwick, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham and Stansted where, says Halewood Global Travel Retail Director Eamon Prunty: \u201cWe\u2019re very satisfied with the performance to date. With its great taste and extremely competitive price at \u00a319.99 for a litre, Aber Falls is attracting both whisky lovers and newcomers to the category.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Now joining this award-winning rich and full-bodied whisky is a selection of brands which \u2013 as you would expect from the Halewood stable \u2013 have a unique story to tell.<\/p>\n

The Bonnington, for example, is the first single cask malt release from this Lowland distillery in Leith, Edinburgh, in nearly 100 years. Construction of the distillery began in 2017, and the logo’s citadel draws inspiration from old fortification ruins discovered during the distillery’s foundation construction. It was commissioned in December 2019 and started its production in March the following year. With only 500 bottles available of this sweet, fruity malt with delicate spice and a long finish, each is hand-signed by distillery manager Jamie Lockhart.<\/p>\n

Leith has a long history with Scottish whisky and The Bonnington Distillery is keeping the names alive of those who helped build this phenomenal industry. These include John Crabbie and James Wyld Single Malt Whiskies. James Wyld established a whisky business in the Port of Leith, Edinburgh in 1801, selling out to John Crabbie and William Cree in 1836. John Crabbie & Co have been purveyors of wine and spirits since 1801. An absolute pioneer in his field, John Crabbie\u2019s involvement in the Scottish whisky industry is legendary.<\/p>\n

The Bankhall name is steeped in history and is an ode to the original distillery site in Liverpool, England, that was established in 1790. In fact, Alfred Barnard\u2019s invaluably detailed 1887 book \u2018Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom\u2019 cites four distilleries that he visited in England that were producing consumable alcohol at the time: \u2018Bank Hall Distillery\u2019 in Liverpool was one of them.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1830 by Samuel Gelston, a prosperous wine and whiskey merchant from Belfast, the company has a long history of sourcing, ageing, blending and bottling Irish whiskeys of the highest quality and innovating with exceptional cask finishes.<\/p>\n

The offer includes the unique: Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (Pinot Noir Cask Finish), a collaboration between two cousins \u2013 Samuel Gelston\u2019s owner, Johnny Neill and Sam Neill, actor and vineyard owner, who is based in New Zealand. It sees the cousins bringing together the two sides of the family, whilst also merging the brilliant flavours and aromas of the two hemispheres.<\/p>\n

The whiskey has been triple-distilled and matured for 22 months in ex-bourbon casks, before spending a further 21 to 27 months maturing in Sam\u2019s French oak casks, which had previously held his prestigious Two Paddocks Pinot Noir.
