The Glenlivet Groundbreaker, Chapter One; the first in a new limited-edition collection inspired by travel, created exclusively for travel retail.<\/p>\n


\nContinuing its commemoration of 200 years of whisky craftmanship, Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail (PR GTR) is delighted to reveal The Glenlivet\u2019s new innovative limited edition, travel retail exclusive and first ever collaboration, The Groundbreaker Collection: a series of Speyside single malts that celebrate creatives – like founder George Smith – who achieve greatness by forging their own path. Each chapter will celebrate original artists who, through travel, have set new standards in their artistic craft.<\/p>\n

For the first release in this series, \u2018Chapter One: The Journey Inward\u2019, The Glenlivet has partnered with renowned artist Red Hong Yi, known as \u2018The Artist Who Paints Without A Brush\u2019.<\/p>\n

Red Hong Yi, who designed the limited-edition packaging, uses fire to char traditional Chinese pigment paper, leaving distinctive impressions in her signature red colour. Her global travels are a primary influence on her work, along with social causes and women in art, leading to an international high profile and being named by Tatler Magazine in 2020 as one of Asia\u2019s most influential voices.<\/p>\n

Emulating her creative process, with The Groundbreaker, a portion of the whisky is selectively finished in double-charred American Oak and European Red Wine casks \u2013 a first for The Glenlivet.<\/p>\n

The heavy char amplifies the signature sweet notes of pear, toffee and vanilla, which pairs beautifully with the red berry fruits, cinnamon spice, ginger and dried fruits from the red wine casks.<\/p>\n

Travellers passing through Singapore Changi Airport, Terminal 1 Departure Transit, between 17th September \u2013 27th October 2024 will be fortunate enough to sample The Groundbreaker at the stunning, immersive Changi 1st pop-up offering a suite of experiential activities, in partnership with LOTTE Duty Free Singapore.<\/p>\n

The first global travel retail launchpad for The Groundbreaker Collection, the pop-up design emulates the intricate Groundbreaker packaging, for which Hong Yi created four separate charred and textured canvases each depicting an aerial scene from a place which has positively influenced her, both personally and as an artist. Hong Yi\u2019s art takes us on a journey from the mountains of Borneo; to the bustling streets of Shanghai; onto the shores of Los Angeles and finally to the Livet Valley in Scotland.<\/p>\n

Once inside the pop-up, shoppers will be invited to discover more about The Glenlivet Groundbreaker Collection through an engaging digital activity on a bespoke app accessible via instore iPads.<\/p>\n

Inspired by Hong Yi\u2019s designs, shoppers will be able to create their own masterpiece on a digital postcard \u2013 which they will also have the option to print onsite \u2013 to share with friends and family; a special memento from their travels and their experience with The Glenlivet.
\nMoving to a more sensorial experience, shoppers can then take in the sweet and charred scent of the liquid from a stimulating aromatiser, before moving to the bar for guided tastings.<\/p>\n

In addition to a beautiful paper gift bag, those spending over US $136 qualify for a complimentary red leather and brass Groundbreaker compass keyring and those spending over US $309 can walk away with a smart trolley bag.<\/p>\n
