JTI\u2019s Global Travel Retail (GTR) launches Ploom AURA, its next-generation heated tobacco device, in Japan Travel Retail (JTR), providing adult consumers with the latest and most technologically advanced propositions in the heated tobacco segment.<\/p>\n


\nAs the needs of adult consumers in the Travel Retail space continue to evolve towards seeking quality, innovative, and reduced-risk products (RRPs), the related demand is also growing. Among these innovative products, the heated tobacco sticks (HTS) segment is gaining significant traction, including through offerings such as Ploom, a rapidly expanding brand developed by JTI. Consumer-based surveys revealed that Ploom AURA received the highest ratings across several image attributes. These included being perceived as more modern and advanced, unique, high quality, relatable (“for people like me”), and premium. Its ergonomic curved design also ensures a comfortable handling experience.<\/p>\n

July 2025, therefore, marks a particularly thrilling milestone for Ploom enthusiasts with the launch of JTI\u2019s new Ploom AURA device in Japan Travel Retail (JTR), making it a global first in the Travel Retail Space. This cutting-edge innovation promises to elevate the Heated Tobacco Stick experience, making waves among Japanese adult consumers and beyond.<\/p>\n

Ploom AURA\u2019s key focus is on enhancing flavor, and the device leverages SMART HEATFLOW heating technology, delivering sensory satisfaction while enabling consumers to enjoy the full essence and richness of tobacco with the absence of combustion and smoke. The new Heat Select System, or heat-switching mode, supported by Bluetooth\u00ae connection, is currently available to Japanese residents when purchased in JTR, and offers four modes for consumers to customize their experience in line with their preferences. The device maintains the delicate and organic curves characteristic of Ploom while evolving into a compact and slim design, combining elegance and practicality.<\/p>\n

JTI GTR is excited about the Ploom activations at seven airports – Tokyo Haneda (HND), Narita (NRT), Kansai (KIX), Chubu (NGO), Fukuoka (FUK), Naha (OKA), and Shin-Chitose (CTS), and in the Lotte Ginza downtown duty-free store.
