In 2023, Whiskies du Monde took a decisive step forward by launching products exclusively dedicated to the Travel Retail market \u2014 including Togouchi Kiwami Distiller\u2019s Reserve, Akashi Takumi, and Yamazakura Kuyuri \u2014 supported by premium activations in several international airports.<\/p>\n

A 100% Japanese creation rooted in craftsmanship and innovation At the heart of Sakurao\u2019s philosophy lies barley \u2014 a grain the family-owned distillery has been mastering for over a century, and the true thread connecting its history.<\/p>\n

Unlike most producers who rely on corn or wheat for their blends, Togouchi stands apart with whiskies made entirely from barley, both malted and unmalted \u2014 a rare choice that brings depth and authenticity to its style.<\/p>\n

Togouchi Ayumi is crafted from 100% barley, including 15% malted barley, and entirely distilled at the Sakurao Brewery & Distillery in Hiroshima Prefecture. This expression is first aged in bourbon casks in a former railway tunnel beneath Mount Osorakan, where the cool, humid environment \u2014 a constant 14\u00b0C and 80% humidity year-round \u2014 allows the spirit to mature slowly and gently. It is then refined for several months in sak\u00e9 casks from the Sakurao Brewery & Distillery, developing a silky texture with notes of green apple, caramel, and white fruits, rounded by gentle spices and toasted nuts on the finish.<\/p>\n
