Ian Macleod Distillers, one of Scotland\u2019s leading independent family-owned distillers, blenders and bottlers, is releasing an outstanding Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Single Cask exclusively with Avolta for Heathrow, to mark the UK hub airport\u2019s 80th birthday celebrations.<\/p>\n

Coinciding with Avolta\u2019s annual global whisky festival in World Duty Free stores known this year as The Whisky Collective, the Tadhg Single Cask #975 is a rare sherry hogshead from 2009, which yielded only 304 bottles. The 17 year old expression celebrates the dedicated Spanish sherry oak heritage of Tamdhu Single Malt. Matured exclusively in a hand selected European oak first-fill Oloroso sherry cask and stored in the cool shadows of the distillery\u2019s traditional dunnage warehouses, Tamdhu Single Cask 70cl (RRP \u00a3249) was bottled un-chill-filtered at 57.7% abv. It is entirely natural in colour and each individually numbered bottle is presented in an outstanding display gift box.<\/p>\n

This 17yo single cask suggests dried fruits and toasted marshmallows on the nose, conjures up blackberries, orange and lemon balm on the palate and has a long finish with rich sherried fruits and pleasant tannins.<\/p>\n

An artisanal Scotch malt whisky, Tamdhu sits on the banks of the River Spey, where it is exclusively matured in sherry-seasoned casks, crafted in the cooperages and bodegas of Jerez for up to six years.
