Virgin\u2019s Richard Branson and Zappos\u2019 Tony Hsieh are known for their far-from-ordinary business strategies, so it\u2019s fitting the two companies have teamed up for a new initiative – and all for a great cause.<\/p>\n
Virgin America\u2019s 600 female flight attendants now have the option of taking to the skies wearing the limited-edition Virgin America pump in what is called \u201cconcourse red,\u201d and Zappos shoppers can also buy a pair of the $355 Stuart Weitzman shoes. In addition, $10 of each purchase will be donated to the American Heart Association to support awareness, research and education programs aimed at fighting cardiovascular disease.<\/p>\n
Virgin America\u2019s in-flight crews have also selected 22 other items sold by Zappos to help shoppers complete their look \u2014 Levi\u2019s 721 high-rise $45 skinny jeans; Minkpink\u2019s $49 \u201cFeels Right\u201d long-sleeve top; Theory\u2019s $385 Lakelyn dress, and Weitzman $335 black patent-leather flats.<\/p>\n
As part of the partnership, Virgin America is offering travelers the chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas for a two-night stay at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, a $1,500 Zappos gift card and a consultation with a personal stylist. To tout its new route between Dallas and Las Vegas, Virgin America is offering discounted rates for consumers who book travel using the \u201cPumped\u201d promo before Saturday. Online shoppers will also find Splendid\u2019s $88 romper, a Jill Stuart two-tone \u201cPop Over\u201d two-ply crepe gown, and a $2,825 Pierre Balmain leather moto jacket.<\/p>\n
Virgin America isn\u2019t the only domestic airline freshening up flight attendants\u2019 style. Zac Posen has been busy reimagining the uniforms of Delta\u2019s staffers. In a cover story for the November issue of Delta\u2019s Sky magazine, Posen said, \u201cIt\u2019s like designing for a country. How do you create unity while people still feel comfortable within their own person? Designing for different body types, for comfort, for feeling poised, stylish, trustworthy, feeling authority in the clothing, essential safety.
