Beam Suntory, the leader in Islay single malts whisky, is launching Laphroaig 16YO, a limited-edition created to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the distillery, established in 1815. This new product will be exclusively available in the travel retail channel from this month.
Laphroaig 16YO was crafted to deliver a taste experience as memorable as the 200th anniversary it commemorates. This rare expression features an initial burst of citrus that is accompanied by notes of sweet vanilla and orchard fruit. When water is added, a more intense fruit aroma comes forward with additional caramel notes. The fi¬rst taste is peppery, but then the liquid mellows, revealing soft orchard fruit flavours with a tang of sea salt and hint of the signature Islay peat smoke resolving into a dry and lingering fi¬nish.
Beam Suntory GTR marketing director, Michael Cockram says: “This year marks Laphroaig’s 200th anniversary and with this milestone comes an exceptional liquid. Laphroaig 16YO is something to savour and share with good friends and family. Matured for 16 years, the liquid is truly unique and brings something special to travel retail shelves for the fans of Laphroaig.”
Laphroaig has been dividing opinions for 200 years, always garnering strong points of view through the years. Some of these varying opinions are featured in videos as part of the Laphroaig Opinions Welcome campaign, which can be viewed at www.laphroaig.com/opinions.
Laphroaig 16YO has an ABV of 48.4% and will only be available in travel retail with a RRP of €45 for a 350ml bottle.
