Practiced and redefined in Florence–the birthplace of Gucci–during the Italian Renaissance, alchemy offers a rich heritage of matter transmutation. Inspired by this art, contemporary perfumery reflects a fascinating journey that served as the starting point for the perfumers behind The Alchemist’s Garden. By blending exclusive, raw materials, these skilled artisans craft fragrances that evoke emotions, tell stories, and leave a lasting impression. On their quest to reach olfactive quintessence, they create scents through a dynamic process inspired by the four alchemical stages of matter transformation, each linked to one of the four elements: Substratum (Earth), Vaporum (Air), Liquidum (Water), and Ignis (Fire). Knowing one ingredient in perfumery can smell entirely different depending on its transformation process, the artisans dissolve and combine the ingredients, in a continually renewing cycle.
Now, three new scents–Vanilla Firenze, Fiori di Neroli, and Osmanthus Nectar–join the collection. Alongside best-seller Tears from the Moon, these scents embody the essence of this alchemical legacy. To create them, Gucci’s collective of perfumers treated four flowers–Italian Orris, Damascena Rose, Neroli, and Osmanthus–in four different ways. Each scent reaches a new quintessence, culminating in a rebirth of the alchemist’s practice.
Introducing Gucci The Alchemist’s Garden Collection
Alchemy teaches that within every element a hidden essence awaits discovery. Gucci’s perfumer collective has mastered the secret language of nature by capturing fleeting moments and distilling them into eternal emotions. Drawing on a secret garden of tailor-made, exclusive ingredients from all over the world, The Alchemist’s Garden is a luxury collection of unrivalled aromatics. Every scent is encapsulated by a colored bottle defined by its process of transmutation.
The Substratum scents feature earthy ingredients—resins, woods, and dried leaves that are calcinated, macerated, solvent-extracted, and infused to release their intensity. These opulent fragrances are encased in black bottles featuring animals and powerful symbols.
In the Vaporum family, the purest ingredients and synthetic molecules are gently sublimated through gas extractions or recreated through biotechnology to reflect their aerial qualities. These luminous scents, symbolized by white bottles and flying creatures, evoke the majesty and lightness of air.

NEW Vanilla Firenze Eau de Parfum
New Gucci Vanilla Firenze Eau de Parfum is a story of ancestral craftsmanship and olfactive excellence. The Floral Woody Amber scent captures the encounter between two of the most precious ingredients: exclusive Italian Iris Pallida Concrete and three different extracts of Vanilla. The journey begins in Italy, where the precious Italian Orris is harvested with its rhizomes carefully picked and dried in artisanal caves, allowing their rich, earthy facets to mature. Once infused, they are ground into powder and placed in an alembic. Here, a solvent draws out their raw depth, creating a tailor-made Iris Pallida Concrete. Perfumer Véronique Nyberg explores the dual nature of this ingredient, embracing its contrasts: emotion and reason, intuition and tangibility, chemistry and magic. She then indulges in the opulence of three extracts of Vanilla: the warmth of Vanilla Infusion, the sensuality of Vanilla Absolute, and the richness of gas-extracted Vanilla Essence. Enriched with warm Myrrh Resinoid, the scent unfolds into a textured experience. Vanilla Firenze Eau de Parfum is represented by a majestic steed, an emblem of nobility, grace, and strength.

The new Gucci Fiori di Neroli Eau de Parfum celebrates the ancient art of distillation through an exclusive partnership with Liguria’s last neroli producer. This Italian family business, founded in 1856 and now in its 7th generation, utilizes artisanal mastery to transform the raw ingredient. Fresh neroli flowers are gathered, weighed, and cast into a heated alembic. Steam extracts their essence and transforms it into precious Neroli Essence. In the hand of Gucci’s perfumers Mathieu Nardin and Julie Massé, this golden essence becomes a fragrant tribute to the Mediterranean breeze. The bright floral notes of Neroli Essence are complemented by the sparkling freshness of the Petitgrain Essential Oil, extracted from the leaves. At the heart of this creation, the pure essence of Osmanthus is revealed through a technique that captures its fragrant molecules under a glass cloche as they bloom in nature, preserving the moment in all its beauty. This delicate floral note is complemented by the grounding warmth of Sandalwood Essential Oil, obtained through molecular distillation. The result is a creamy, woody base with a hint of dry spiciness that adds depth to the fragrance. The Floral Fruity Woody scent is emblazoned with a hummingbird to symbolize the perfumer’s spirited creativity and free-flowing imagination.
