With the sheer volume of selfie-enabling paraphernalia now available on the market, we are left wondering how selfies ever came to be without it all. To go along with selfie sticks and the countless ‘filter-like’ blurring primers to have appeared since that day, Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter has invented another piece of kit set to aid those in their quest for selfie-perfection.

The Ty-Lite (https://ty-lite.com/) is a protective case for iPhone 6 and 6S users, which lights up just like an old-school dressing room mirror – except that the lighting is LED and there are three different settings. That’s right, your Instagram uploads can now not only be filtered by Clarendon, Ludwig or Perpetua, but you can also take them with the Ty-Lite’s ‘cool’, ‘warm’, or ‘brilliant’ settings.

Hunter, who made a memorable appearance as Beyonce’s dress choreographer on the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit back in May, told Glamour: “A lot of celebs have been hitting me up for them. They say that they don’t even need to use a filter when they’re using it.”

At $79.99 (roughly £54), the Ty-Lites certainly don’t come cheap, but one glance at the official Ty-Lite Instagram page and it seems they’re selling well regardless. Hunter says he hasn’t yet given Beyonce her own, but that he intends to the next time he sees her. He might be barking up the wrong tree, as avid fans of the singer will have noticed that she normally shuns the selfie in favour of a beautifully-crafted shot taken by someone else (but of course). Nonetheless, perhaps we’d better all stock up anyway. If they’re flying off the virtual shelves already, we can only imagine what a Beyonce endorsement will do for sales.
