Three new fragrances join the Bottega Veneta Parco Palladino fragrance collection.
In 2016, Bottega Veneta unveiled Parco Palladiano (see story), a collection of six fragrances for women and men inspired by the Palladian gardens of the Veneto region of Italy, where Bottega Veneta was founded in 1966. Conceived and overseen by Creative Director Tomas Maier, each fragrance is an ‘olfactory trompe l’oeil’, composed of flowers, woods, spices and fruit trees grown in the region, combined to capture the different moments and experiences in a Palladian garden.
One year later, the story continues as Bottega Veneta unveils three new floral fragrances for women and men capturing new moments and experiences in a Palladian garden at springtime. A collaboration with three perfumers, fragrances VII, VIII, and IX bring the complete collection to nine fragrances numbered by simple Roman numerals – Parco Palladiano I to Parco Palladiano IX – to reflect the classical heritage of the Palladian villas.
Continuing the house’s tradition of Art of Collaboration between Tomas Maier and world-renowned talents in different fields, the new additions to the Parco Palladiano collection have been created with the collaboration of perfumers known for their particular and elevated sensibilities: Michel Almairac, Mylène Alran, and Sidonie Lancesseur.
Michel Almairac has been a part of the Bottega Veneta fragrance story from the beginning, creating the debut signature women’s fragrance Bottega Veneta. He has continued his relationship with the house, also developing Eau Legère, Essence Aromatique, and Parco Palladiano I, Parco Palladiano VI, and now Parco Palladiano VII.
Mylène Alran collaborated on Parco Palladiano VI and created the new Parco Palladiano VIII.
Sidonie Lancesseur has created her first fragrance for Bottega Veneta with Parco Palladiano IX, bringing new experience and perspective to the fragrances collection of the house.
“I am very proud of these collaborations,” says Tomas Maier. “With the Parco Palladiano collection, we have created fragrances that extend and tell a new story about the Bottega Veneta world.”
THE FRAGRANCES
PARCO PALLADIANO VII
Parco Palladiano VII conjures the pale light of dawn over the lilacs in the garden. A gentle morning breeze imparts the fresh and powdery scent of the flowers over the subtle salt of the water of the Venice laguna.
“The idea is to recreate an olfactive impression when we walk through this garden with its incredible richness. I decided to pause in front of the lilac and recreate the flower in its surroundings,” says perfumer Michel Almairac.
An intense and luminous musky floral composition, Parco Palladiano VII has a pale lavender juice, recalling the precious petals of the lilac flower.
PARCO PALLADIANO VIII
Parco Palladiano VIII brings to life a tranquil stroll through the orange orchard, in the early afternoon when the sun is at its height. Near the villa, the trees are in full bloom, filling the air with the aroma of sweet and honeyed neroli infused with the woodiness of the bark.
“To reflect the luminous and flowering orange orchard, I used all ingredients and facets of the plant,” says perfumer Mylène Alran, “the green and woody petitgrain, the delicate floral neroli, the rich and honeydew fleur d’oranger.”
The golden juice captures the delicate orange tree and its petals, peel, and bark, with the warm light of the sun’s rays shining above.
PARCO PALLADIANO IX
Parco Palladiano IX calls to mind the end of the day, as the sun begins to descend below the horizon and the cool air of the early evening sets in. It is only when the darkness begins to cast its shadows, that the sensual violet flower grows, radiating a muskiness as it spreads around the stones of the garden’s villa.
“I wanted to create a contrast between the delicate and elegant violet and the prestigious enveloping woods that surround it,” says perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur.
The plum-colored juice, captivating in its intensity, is a rare combination of floral woody notes emblematic of the house.
THE FLACONS
Each bottle of Parco Palladiano reflects the traditions of Bottega Veneta and the Veneto region, with the house’s iconic intrecciato covering the flacon, the cap, and the packaging, and the material recalling the tradition of classic Venetian glasswork, as for all the house’s fragrances.
Intrecciato is the instantly recognizable signature of Bottega Veneta, the distinctive leather weave design developed and handcrafted by the house’s artisans. It was by focusing on the intrecciato that Tomas Maier started the revival of Bottega Veneta, celebrating the extraordinary expertise that remains at its core today.
