A new Gem is born. 100 square metres of magnificence just opened at the centre of Terminal 1 in Frankfurt International Airport, the results of the strong collaboration between Bulgari, Fraport and Gebr. Heinemann.


Since 1884, Bulgari has always found a favored source of inspiration in the monuments and architectural treasures of Rome: sunlight, marbles and magnificent architecture. Italian design is renowned worldwide for its beauty in its form, the audacity with which precious materials, colors and craftsmanship are combined, the relationship between ancient and modern, tradition and innovation, qualities that characterize the Bulgari interior design concept today. The materials used have a recall with ancient Roman classicism, whilst being lighter and more contemporary.

This new boutique is a real journey into 2,700 years of Roman history and it starts by the welcoming open shop front, framed with an elegant grand antique marble portal, which features the brand Roman lettered iconic logo. The central circular browsing counter, which has a sculptured travertine top showcasing Italian craftsmanship is the central focal point of the boutique. Artisan encausto, soft furnishings and rich silks work together to add warmth. To uplift the space, some touches of saffron color bring the magic of the light of Rome, reminiscent of the moments just before the sunset when the sky is ablaze in shades of golden apricot.

Richness is in the details; we can also find in this boutique two decorative mesh panels with a geometric pattern inspired by the Roman pantheon combining squares and circles with the iconic Bulgari eight point star. The same eight-point star is embedded in the marble floor of the entrance zone. This special star is a universal symbol of balance, harmony and cosmic order, the eight lines are symbolic of the four cardinal points (North, South, East, West) and time (two solstices and two equinoxes). According to the famous legend, the star means “Roma Caput Mundi”, meaning that all the routes lead to Rome, and is a unifying symbol found in all Bulgari boutiques around the world.

Last but not least, there is artwork piece, the Venus, by the legendary pop artist Andy Warhol who famously once quoted “For me calling at Bulgari shop is like visiting the best exhibition of contemporary art”.

Within this new Bulgari temple, travelers can explore a curated collection of high-end jewelry, luxury handbags, and exquisite timepieces. The jewelry selection represents the epitome of craftsmanship and design, featuring Bulgari’s iconic like the Serpenti or B.Zero1 collections.
