Chanel shows its playful side with a video celebrating its jacket-inspired Girl bag as it arrives in boutiques around the world.
The chunky Boy bag captured the hearts of fashion editors, bloggers and street style stars the world over; now Karl Lagerfeld introduces the Girl Chanel bag, a play on the Parisian brand’s iconic tweed jacket. Complete with cuffs, sleeves, buttons, pockets and a collar, the Girl bag is designed to be knotted around the hips, shoulder or neck, evoking the casual ease with which one might a sport a spare cashmere jumper.
First seen on the brand’s spring/summer 2015 catwalk and modelled in the campaign above by Vanessa Paradis, the Girl Chanel bag is now available in stores in finishes from classic tweed to smooth, gold buttoned-lambskin. To celebrate this new addition to its handbag hall of fame, Chanel has enlisted photographer Olivia Da Costa to create a charming stop-animation film showcasing the range of Girls in the collection; from the Fit Girl to the Girly Girl.
As Karl Lagerfeld declares, “There are some things that will never go out of fashion: a pair of jeans, a white shirt and a Chanel jacket”.
