To mark 10 years since its launch, Crystal Head Vodka has unveiled its first travel retail-exclusive, limited-edition bottling. The limited-edition bottle design has been created by painter John Alexander.

The vodka brand has partnered with American artist John Alexander for the travel-retail exclusive bottle design. Alexander designed Crystal Head Vodka’s original skull-shaped bottle, with the new design featuring images derived from his 1988 oil painting Dancing on the Water Lilies of Life.

He said: “I am thrilled to unite this expressive painting with the unique design of the Crystal Head bottle to help create the first edition in the artist series.

“This bottle stays true to the signature style of Crystal Head and appeals to spirit drinkers and art lovers alike.”

The decoration process of these limited-edition bottles takes place in a workshop in Milan, where each of the 25,000 bottles is hand-decorated by one of three craftsmen.

“It is only fitting that he designs this special-edition bottle as we continue to introduce products that push boundaries and create an excitement our consumers gravitate towards.”

The John Alexander artist series no.1 bottle will be available in 700ml and 750ml formats, carrying an RRP of US$149.95.

The release will be exclusive to travel retail for six months before hitting the domestic market in August 2018.

John Alexander is the designer of the Crystal Head Bottle and his work has been widely exhibited at institutions such as the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, both in Washington, D.C., and the Museum of Fine Arts, in Houston. On average his work sells for $150K and is owned by numerous well-known celebrities and musicians.

CREATION PROCESS

For three years we have been working with a small artisanal workshop in Milan, Italy to create 25,000 beautiful collectables. Each bottle decoration is hand applied and numbered emphasising its scarcity. This bottle wrapped in John Alexander’s painting is both a beautiful keepsake and a unique opportunity to own his art.
