Paco Rabanne unveils a new edition of its Black XS range with two of the most iconic rock legends – Debbie Harry and Iggy Pop.
At the heart of the crazy seventies, it was almost by chance that Iggy Pop and David Bowie (who was playing keyboard in Iggy’s group at the time) crossed paths with Debbie Harry, who was just starting out. Pop invited Blondie to support him on tour, and they have been friends ever since.
They love each other. From the narrow streets of a New York that was still an urban jungle in the seventies to CBGB’s grimy backstage area, from the underground of puritan America to the star system of the noughties… In 1990, they recorded “Well, Did You Evah!” together, a Cole Porter classic already performed by Sinatra and Bing Crosby, for an AIDS benefit album. In 1997, Blondie recorded a cover of Pop’s “Ordinary Bummer”…

“What makes a legend?” Émilie Coppermann, who created the new Black XS Be A Legend fragrance for women, asked herself. The answer came quickly: uniqueness, power, purity. For purity, she had to stay true to the DNA of this strong and addictive scent. Hellebore (the only rose that flowers in winter), black vanilla (quintessentially feminine), patchouli (the defining scent of the seventies, peace and love and beatnik). To incorporate the sensual, magnetic dimension that distinguishes a legend, Émilie Coppermann turned to the East, adding sombre and mysterious oud powder. A powerful fragrance unlike any other; the scent of a legend.

And what about Iggy? Are you thinking cold tobacco and a studded biker jacket? When he hears the word “rock”, Fabrice Pellegrin, who composed the new “Black XS Be A Legend” fragrance for men, smells leather, intense and masculine notes, which he has paired with fresh scents. Lemon and cinnamon, blended with smoky cistus. He has combined the raw, powerful and masculine intensity of cypriol with honey, to calm the effect and play on ambiguity. Add orange blossom “for the narcotic side” and you have the explosive formula that gives the timeless iguana his distinctive edge: romanticism and the unpredictable. Punk and Pop.
