To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Dior’s emblematic creations get a toile de Jouy makeover in a red floral version.
For the cruise 2019 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri reinterpreted toile de Jouy, a motif dear to Christian Dior who, as early as 1947, used it in the decoration of his boutique, “Colifichets”, located at 30 Avenue Montaigne.
And now, especially for Chinese New Year, the Creative Director set red hydrangeas abloom on this iconic canvas – now a key code and signature of the House – evoking the founding couturier’s passion for flowers, as well as for a colour he deemed “the colour of life”.
Associated with grace, gratitude and prosperity, hydrangeas also reconnect with Christian Dior’s superstitious spirit, blossoming across on a series of unique and poetically symbolic pieces.
