Prabal Gurung designed special uniforms for Etihad Airways crew (and grid girls) for last weekend’s Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Prabal Gurung and Etihad Airways collaborated on a special uniform unveiled last weekend at the 2017 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final race of the season.

Model Chanel Iman was on hand to show off the new look on the track and in front of an Etihad Airways F1-branded Airbus A380. “Etihad’s foray into fashion is truly an innovative break from tradition,” Gurung said over the weekend. “Similarly, we wanted to challenge the conceived notion of how Grid Girls are typically dressed. Together, we are proud to create a jumpsuit with a strong shoulder and our signature architectural approach – something a bit unexpected, yet still feminine and empowering.”

The new uniform, which was also worn by Etihad Airways’ cabin crew during the three-day event, was seen on TV by hundreds of millions of motorsport fans worldwide.

Last year, Etihad Airways struck a global agreement with WME/IMG as a long-term partner of the fashion industry. Gurung recently signed to IMG/WME for fashion deals and entertainment opportunities.
